BIS # 1026 - PAST PUPILS HOLD COUNCIL ELECTIONS

MATUNGA, JULY 20, 2008: The Don Bosco Past Pupils Provincial Federation meeting was held at the Provincial House, Matunga on Sunday, July 20, 2008, and was attended by 27 members. The key purpose of this meeting was to elect the Past Pupils Provincial Council. The day began with the ‘Prayer of the Past Pupils’ after which Fr. Elias Diaz, Provincial Delegate for Salesian Family, welcomed all those present. The Vice Provincial Fr. Godfrey D’Souza then addressed the gathering. Speaking on the theme of leadership, he said that a leader is one who has integrity, is credible and humane, follows principles, puts the organization’s interest before own interest and looks for collaborations rather then competition. This was followed by the reading of the Annual Report for the year 2007-2008 and the Statement of Accounts. The Provincial Council Elections were then held. The Election Commission comprised Fr. Elias Daiz, Mr. Arun Gorpade and Ms. Dolly Alphonso. Mr. Ketan Gala was elected as the President, Mr. Dilip Bhat as Vice President, Mr. Mayur D’Silva as Vice President Gex, Mr. Kailash Parekh as Secretary and Mr. Joseph Gomes as Treasurer. Those elected as Committee Members were: Mr. Amar, Mr. Wenceslaus Pinto, Mr. Anand Gurav and Mr. Shirish Vora. Fr. Diaz congratulated the newly elected members and asked them to be united, share each other’s burdens and appreciate the good work done by others. He also thanked the outgoing committee for their services rendered. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Ketan Gala.
