BORIVLI, DECEMBER 26, 2009: This year’s sports day at Don Bosco, Borivli was in an ‘alag andaaz’. It was organized on December 16, 2009. The sports day was held early this year so that the STD. X students could also participate in it.

As usual the March past practices were in full form but they started just one week before the sports day. Sir Mark was already running helter-skelter with objectives like marking the ground, getting the boys ready for the various events, getting students ready for the Heats and working with the teachers as they got ready for the Heats and the Grand Finale.

This year Javelin throw and High Jump were introduced and the event began early in the morning for the first time in all these years. The Chief guests for the occasion were Ace footballer Mr. Jacinto D’Silva who represented India, Mr. and Mrs. Albert D’Souza,-parents of Aldridge D’Souza 2nd ranker in the boards for the year 2008-09 and Mr. and Mrs. Joshi- parents of the1st ranker in the boards for the year 2008-09.

As the clock struck 7:30am the 4 house captains accompanied the chief guests to their seats. There was then the precise marching put forth by the 4 houses, group of scouts, group of athletes and the group of band boys. The torch was lit by Joannes Pereira of Std. IX. The school flag was hoisted Calvin Pereira-The Sports Secretary of Secondary Section who then took the sportsman oath after which Master Neil Menezes-Sports Secretary of the Primary Section recited the Sportsman Prayer.

After all these activities, the tiny tots of the primary section performed a beautiful Lollipop Drill. The events began in full swing. Most of the events were completed during the heats. Main events to which all were eagerly waiting were the relays and the Tug-Of-War. In the end Father George Carlos proposed the vote of thanks. None of the boys expected a holiday the next day but thanks to Fr. Rector and Fr. Principal and the students who cheered all along, the students finally got their cherished one day break.
