BIS Correspondent
WADALA, OCTOBER 27, 2010: The entire school assembled in the school hall to welcome the Salesian Regional Councillor for South Asia, Rev.Fr. Maria Arokiam Kanaga. The Morning Prayer and the prayer dance by the students of the primary section set the tone for the Regional’s visit.   Thereafter, the Head boy and the Asst. Head boy expressed their heartfelt sentiments to Fr. Arokiam in the form of words and floral tributes.  Fr. Rector then introduced the esteemed guest to the entire assembly. Though a highly qualified person, Fr. Arokiam is known for his humility and a loving heart.

Fr. Arokiam interacted with the students and enthralled them with his humorous yet value based speech. He emphasized on the importance of a good character besides one’s intelligence. After the assembly, Fr. Arokiam proceeded to interact with the tiny tots of the school that is the KG students, who, along with their teachers, welcomed him with their characteristic cheer. Later, the NCC cadets escorted Fr. Maria Arokiam to the school garden for the planting of a sapling – a symbolic reminder to each one of us to nurture and protect our environment.

In the afternoon, the entire staff gathered in the A.V. Room for a meeting with the Regional Councillor. In sharing his experience with them he urged the staff to be teachers who are loved and remembered by their students.

Fr. Maria Arokiam’s visit is fondly cherished and remembered by each one of us over here.  Long live Don Bosco!  His dream lives on…..
