Today we, the members of the Salesian Family – Salesians, Salesian Sisters, Cooperators and youngsters – have gathered here to remember the patron of youth. The theme for this Eucharistic celebration is “Come and See!” Let us pray that each of us may truly experience the Lord and share this experience with others – that educators and parents may first experience the Lord and pass on this experience to the young ones, and these youngsters in turn may become apostles who proclaim their personal experience of the Lord among their companions. The programme which was conducted by Father Joaquim Fernandes - Regional Delegate of Boscom, South Asia and Director of Tej-Prasarni, Mumbai - saw around 55 teachers in attendance. Father Fernandes began with a documentary titled, 'RiverMee' and 'Potter and the Clay' - as part of introspection on the topic, 'Awareness of self and others.' This was followed by a discussion on how educators can mould the students to be good and honest citizens. The next session was on 'Don Bosco the Educator.' Father Fernandes delved on the pedagogy of the Don Bosco's education system, distinguishing the pros and cons of the Repressive system with the Preventive System of education. by Karen Laurie MUMBAI, DEC 10, 2015: When the faithful enter the Shrine of Don Bosco's Madonna this Christmas, they will witness their shrine - seemingly robed to welcome Jesus in the manger. Gone are the cracks in the dome that resembled a dangerous mosaic, gone is the scaffolding that signified a work-in-progress. Renovation to restore the shrine's distinctive dome, 80-feet above the main altar, to its past glory ended a week-into Advent. It's the first-ever renovation since it was built in 1957, by Father Aurelius Maschio; similar to the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin- built by Don Bosco himself. Patkil and Dadarkar, two Indian architects, designed the iconic structure in the form of a traditional Latin cross. The main dome - over the sanctuary - and the two-minor domes - over the entrance - are typical of Roman church architecture of the time.
