NASHIK, FEBRUARY 2, 2011: Dominic Savio, Satpur Church, Nashik, celebrated their Parish Get-Together on January 26. It is an event everyone looks forward to. All the faithful of Satpur gathered together in large numbers at 4.00pm in their newly renovated Church. It was a solemn Eucharistic celebration with the Parish Priest, Fr. Nelson Falcao, sdb as the main celebrant and other concelebrants. Fr. Nelson gave a message on Unity, Peace and Harmony in connection with Republic Day.
The Chief Guests for the evening were Mr. Richard D’Souza, Mrs. Augusta D’Souza and their son Larry. Mr. D’Souza greatly contributed in the renovation of the Church of Satpur. The expenses of the renovation were about `10 lakhs. The Chief Guests were felicitated by the Parishioners. It was a moment to express gratitude for their generosity. The D’Souza family was overjoyed and relaxed in the company of the people. They were present all through the programme.
After the felicitation of the Chief Guests, various types of games were organized by Bro. Ajay Shelke and the youth members. The children enjoyed playing the games and won prizes. A game of housie was also organized.
After the games followed dinner. The meal was prepared from the contribution of the parishioners and Mr. D’Souza. Both young and old danced to the tunes of the DJ. It was a great moment of fellowship, union of hearts, and community building. The get-together was a great success due to the collaboration of all; the Parish Council members, Mahila Mandal, Youth Group, Choir Group, Fathers, Brothers and Sisters.
The tradition of the Get-Together was started by Fr. Lloyd Rodrigues, sdb when he was in Nashik as the Parish Priest. This year the parishioners were suggesting and planning to call him for the Mass and the Get-Together. Unfortunately, due to ill health, he was unable to come. We hope that Fr. Lloyd would visit us some time soon.
