BIS #2682 SALESIANS GATHER TOGETHER WITH THEIR PARENTS

BIS Correspondent

WADALA, NOVEMBER 08, 2011: On November 06, 2011 the Fourth Annual Get together of the Parents of the Salesians was held at St. Joseph's School Hall, Wadala. There as a good gathering of a happy group of differing age groups of persons who mean so much to us, from all parts of Mumbai. Focussing our gaze on Don Bosco's own mother whose death anniversary occurs on November 25, Salesians seek to honour their own parents. This is the main activity of the Association of Mamma Margaret.

Fr. Ajoy Fernandes, the Vice Provincial celebrated the Holy Mass, linking the example of Mamma Margaret with the Liturgy of the day. A short life sketch was screened to help us further reflect on the great influence she exerted as a parent on the early formation of St. John Bosco. After party games and a round of housie for which the winners received good prizes, we welcomed Fr. Provincial. Fr. Michael Fernandes in a brief message expressed his joy at meeting the parents and encouraged them to foster vocations to the Salesian Congregation.  We also felicitated three of the couples who were celebrating their Silver Jubilees in the course of the year.

We are grateful to Fr. Godfrey D'Sa and his community for making splendid arrangements for this significant gathering and to Fr. Wilfred D'Souza, the chief organizer of the event. We were also happy to have the presence of four other Salesians. The event came to an end with an appetizing lunch prepared by the Provincial House, Matunga.
