Fr. Brian Moras sdb

MATUNGA, NOVEMBER 15, 2011: Retreatainment, a Retreat for youth through inspiring movies was conducted at the youth services, Matunga on November 12-13, 2011.  This is the second year that we are conducting this unique Retreat with eighty youngsters participating in it.
Fr. Joaquim Fernandes sdb, the chief guest at the inauguration appreciated this unique venture and congratulated Frs. Brian and Glenn for reaching out to the youngsters who are Digital Natives in a language they understand and respond to.  Fr. Brian Moras the organizer of the Retreat welcomed the enthusiastic youngsters and asked them to be open to the Lord speaking to them through the movies which would be screened through the two days.  He further explained that each movie would first be introduced, then screened and followed by a workshop which would include reflection, group sharing, commitment for change and prayer.
The first movie 'Soul Surfer' was a true story of faith, family and fighting to get back on the Board.  It encouraged the youngsters to have daring faith in God and to bond well with their families.
The second movie was 'Karol, The Pope-The Man', which tells the story of John Paul II one of the most recognized and loved Popes in history.  It was an account of the life of John Paul II from the time he was elected Pope until he died in 2005.  An incredibly human portrait of an extraordinary man.
The third presentation for the senior group was 'How Great Thou Art' which brought out the beauty and magnificence of the Universe which makes us appreciate the grandeur and wonder of our creator God.  'Mission to Love' an inspiring movie on the life of Saint John Bosco was screened for the junior group.
Fr. Michael, the Provincial of the Mumbai Province was the main celebrant for the Eucharist on November 13, 2011.  He connected well with the youngsters in his homily wherein he broke the word of God. Speaking on the parable of the Talents, he made us aware that all of us have talents and we need to use these talents well.  We further need to take risks in life to increase our talents he said.
Our final movie was 'Joshua'- a modern parable on how faith, hope and love can transform the world.
We concluded the Retreat with a very meaningful 'Taize Prayer' coupled with confessions and counselling for the participants.  A follow up program was planned for the participants of the Retreat on November 27, 2011.
