BIS #2796 DON BOSCO FEAST DAY CELEBRATION- VIRAR

VIRAR, FEBRUARY 04, 2012: The joyful celebration of the feats of Don Bosco on January 29, 2012 marked the culmination of the solemn nine day novenas in hour of the saint at Resurrection Church, Virar (E).
The main celebrant for the festive Eucharist was Rev. Fr. Elson Barretto, Provincial Economer of the Mumbai Province. In his very inspiring homily, Fr. Barretto highlighted the role of an uneducated yet faith- filled woman, named Mama Margaret, in moulding the life of her son, a pioneer in the field of the preventive system of education. The Salesians emphasise on reason, religion and loving kindness on the basis from John Bosco's upbringing at home.
Our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Lawrence D'Souza had a special word of appreciation for Fr. Osborn Furtado, our newly ordained Assistant Parish Priest, who through his daily homilies and audio- visual presentations during the novenas enlightened us about the Charism of the Salesians.
'Bosco Bonding', was the highlight of the occasion wherein the entire Parish came together to celebrate the feast on the church grounds. A round of housie, spot prizes and foot tapping music made up for an enjoyable and fun-filled evening for one and all. The programme came to an end with sumptuous dinner served.
A special thanks to the members of the Cultural cell and Salesian Co-operators for putting together a wonderful programme and animating a meaningful Liturgy for us all. Sincere words of gratitude to Frs. Lawrence and Osborn for making us feel truly blessed and privileged to belong to a vibrant Salesian Parish.
Long Live Don Bosco!
