NEW BOOK RELEASE: JESUS - THE PRINCE OF PEACE

MATUNGA, APRIL 13, 2012: The Rector of the Shrine of Don Bosco's Madonna Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza, sdb officially launched the book, "JESUS- THE PRINCE OF PEACE" by Joaquim Fernandes, sdb,  published by Tej-Prasarini, Don Bosco Communications on Easter Sunday, April 7, 2012,  at the Shrine of Don Bosco's Madonna, Matunga, Mumbai. 

 

The book Jesus – The Prince of Peace, is written in a simple yet mature manner, the book traces the life of Jesus from his birth to his Resurrection.  Salvation history reminds us to re-enact and relive the mystery of our faith – Christ has died, Christ is risen and Christ will come again at very Eucharistic meal.  The design elements used make this book ready to be owned, adding a personal touch for the owner of this prized possession.

 

His Eminence, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, commenting in the preface of the book says:  In the book 'JESUS - THE PRINCE OF PEACE', we find a concise and pictorial presentation of the story of Jesus presented for young children. The attempt of this book is to enable our children make a personal connection with Jesus. It can also serve as a guide to parents and educators to recall the vision of 'Catholic Youth Ministry' and seek to make this vision a reality. Enriching the work is 'A Treasury of Prayers', with its collection of beloved and well-used Catholic prayers. A short 'Catechism for Children' in the format of questions and answers will surely help them to grow more deeply in their understanding of their faith. Very noteworthy is the section on the 'Prayers' and 'Responses' according to the revised translation of the Roman Missal. 

 

Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, sdb speaking on this occasion said that in life we all have turbulent times, suffering and disappointments but like Job from the  Bible we all need to have strong faith in God. The Bible exhorts each one of us to be aware of ourselves and surrender to God.    "Be Still and Know that I am God". In the stillness we find peace, joy and serenity in our lives.  This led me to entitle the book "Jesus - The Prince of Peace".
