VIRAR, MAY 23, 2012: The Don Bosco Resurrection Church, Virar organized a one month Summer Club from April 20, 2012 to May 20, 2012 for young children in and around the Church area. The theme of the Summer Club was, 'to grow in wisdom and love'. The organizing team consisted of Fr. Lawrence D'Souza, the Rector of Resurrection Church, Fr. Osborn Furtado, the Assistant Parish Priest of Resurrection Church, Bro. Bosco Carvalho and a group of young volunteers. There were nearly seventy-five children who attended this Club.

The Summer Club had two timings: the morning session from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. consisted of dance, keyboard and guitar classes, and the evening session comprised of a variety of games and competitions which began at 4.30 p.m. and ended at 6.30 p.m. The dance classes were tutored by two volunteers Ms. Lovina Menezes and Ms. Jessica Fernandes; keyboard classes by Mr. Nelson Mathew and Ms. Raisa Vaz and the guitar class by Bro. Bosco Carvalho. The students enrolled in any one of the three courses and were regular in their attendance. The evening program was marked by a number of competitions like handwriting competition, drawing competition, singing competition, great laughter competition, food festival, mehendi and hairstyle competition, quiz competition, antakshari competition, and a list of other activities, party games, actions songs and so on. The students played various games like badminton, carom, table tennis, football, cricket, throw ball, volleyball, etc. The club was also blessed to have pre-novices Samson and Allan who offered to teach the students art with laces and Scooby wires.

Each day began with a moment of prayer, thanksgiving and a short story from the life of Don Bosco followed by the singing of the Club anthem. The children were divided into four teams The entire club was governed by a point system wherein the children received coupons at the individual as well as the group level. There were daily fixtures for each of the games that helped them earn their score. The students vied each other in winning games, topping competitions as well as in discipline and behavior.

The final day, May 19, 2012, was a day dedicated to thanking Don Bosco for the opportunity given to participate and enjoy the Summer Club 2012. Fr. D'Souza, commended the children for the enthusiasm displayed during the month and urged them not to cease from developing their talents and potentialities. The children made a presentation of their learning's – dance, keyboard and guitar – respectively. Two of the students expressed their appreciation to Don Bosco by way of an address. The prize distribution ceremony was the highlight of the day. The Bosco Boy and Bosco Girl title was awarded to Abhishek and Shweta respectively. The highest point scorers Clinton and Kajal were also awarded with prizes. Each of the children carried a key chain along with sweet memories of friendship and togetherness at the Summer Club 2012.

The Summer Club was a success thanks to the planning and preparation done well in advance by Fr. Osborn Futardo, the Assistant Parish Priest of Resurrection Church, Virar. The purpose of the Summer Club was that the children may learn something constructive during their holidays and flee away from all possibilities of idleness and sin. The Summer Club 2012 at Resurrection Church helped the children achieve the same with the grace of Don Bosco the Father and Friend of Youth.
