BOSCO INFORMATION SERVICE #3013
LIVING LIKE MARY TO BECOME SAINTS.
MATUNGA, JULY 18, 2012: 16 July, on the solemn feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the boarders of Don Bosco Boarding Matunga, began their month long journey with Mary our Mother. “Living Like Mary To Become Saints" is the theme for this year’s Marian Month.
The ceremony took place in front of the first floor statue of Our Lady in the Boarding section. The inauguration ceremony began with an introduction and a song to Mary. A Lamp was lit by all the priests of the community as a sign of God’s presence. A reading from the gospel of Luke about the Annunciation was read. Fr Wilfred D’Souza, the Rector, then installed the various captains of the Six Marian teams by placing a scapular on their shoulders. He stated in his message to the boarders about the need to imitate the example of Our Blessed Mother and increasing our love for her. He urged the boarders to be faithful to their duties and studies and living happy lives in the boarding. As a sign of Our Lady’s accompaniment he gave each boarder a picture of Our Lady. He then declared the Marian Month Open.
Kevin Topiwala, a Std XI Boarder, then recited a poem after which the Marian Prayer for the month was recited. The ceremony ended with the singing of the Marian Anthem.
