BORIVLI-MUMBAI, OCTOBER 25, 2012 : Mission Sunday is marked as  the special day in the Church's calendar to revive in each one the desire to go and the joy of “going” to meet humanity, bringing Christ to all.

The theme for  Mission Sunday 2012 Confident in Faith is intimately connected to the opening of the Year of Faith where the Catholic community in India and around the world is invited to pray for, celebrate and support the work of evangelization in villages & rural areas.

St. John Bosco Church celebrated Mission Sunday on October 21, 2012. This year the mission Sunday collection was dedicated to the Salesian Missions at Kawant - Gujarat.

The missionary priest Fr. Gregory D’Almeida sdb Mission Sunday through the Eucharistic celebration.

Works in the mission lands of Gujarat was presented through Photographs and videos of : Village Education Programme, Self Help Groups, School and Boarding, People’s Right and Good Governance, Skill Development and Livelihood Programmes, Youth Activities, Bio-Gas Project Training etc.

Every year the parishioners put up food stalls and organize variety of games. This  time the wide assortment of food items like Chicken Bhujing, Sorpotel, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Pork Chilly, Potato Chops, Veg Pulao, Pork Vindaloo, Cutlets, Cakes, Pickles, Rumballs, etc were the delicacies for sale. All products were very much appreciated and hence there was a rapid sale within a few minutes of the opening.

The highlights of the day were the special stalls where the natives of Kawant sold their artistic handmade jewellery, purses and handbags. The Auctions of sarees & weighing of the cake were the prized takeover. The youth & the confirmation batch put up game stalls that were easy to play but challenged individual skills. People of all ages kept coming back to have another try, as the games were very entertaining.

Over all it was a pleasant Mission day and all were content, with fellowship & service.
