VEP DAY 2013 IN DON BOSCO NARUKOT

NARUKOT-GUJARAT, FEBRUARY 25, 2013: VEP day was celebrated with gaiety and fervor at Don Bosco <![if !vml]><![endif]>Narukot on Sunday 24 February. It was a fun-filled day for the children. The campus of Don Bosco, Narukot became vibrant and vivacious when nearly seven hundred and fifty children from nearby villages had arrived along with their tutors.
 
The day began with a prayer and lighting of lamp by Fr. Edwin <![if !vml]><![endif]>D'Souza (Rector of the Shrine), Fr. Pravin (Rector of DB Narukot) together with few children on the stage. Fr. Edwin D'Souza and Rector Fr. Pravin flew the doves and declare the 'Balmela' open. Children had lot of fun and frolic at 'Balmela' organized under Village Education Project (VEP) managed by Fr. Ashwin and Coordinator Ms. Bharti.

They enjoyed themselves by playing games, dancing 'timli' and having scrumptious food generously <![if !vml]><![endif]>served by the students of the institute. Innovative and children friendly games were put up in well-organized stalls by the boarders trapped the attention of the children where they had a chance to win a variety of prizes. No wonder, there was a cut throat competition among them to be owner of those prizes.

There was then a splendid cultural show prepared by the little <![if !vml]><![endif]>children as well as boarders and the school. During the programme Fr. Ashwin read out the VEP report of the year 2012-13. The programme was well prepared. The presence of the chief guest Rev. Fr. Edwin D'Souza, added colour to the day.  Fr. Edwin in his speech stressed on very important aspect of life that is education.

The guest of honour Mr Bhasker (Member of District Panchayat), sarpanch of nearby villages and other invited <![if !vml]><![endif]>guests were also present to witness the day. They were felicitated with a garland by the children of different VEP centres.

Fr. Ashwin in his thanks giving speech took a note of meticulous efforts of Frs. Pravin, Brian, Bros. Damodar, Ajay, and other staff members and boys for helping and supporting in organizing this magnificent 'mela'. He also thanked Fr. Edwin for coming and spending a precious day with our VEP children.

At the end each child was given snack packet together with stationary box as a gift of appreciation. They all returned home thanking Don Bosco with a smile on their faces.
