LONAVLA, JULY 27, 2013: Keeping with the tradition of enhancing the use of the English language both written and oral, the School and Junior College of Don Bosco Lonavla organized an elocution competition for the students on 26th July, 2013. The judges for the competition were Ms.Trupti Gawale, BA, Bed, LLb; Ms Zainab Jasdanwala BA, LLB and Br. Rudolf D'souza. The competition began with choral recitation by juniors comprising students of Stds. V to VII. The poems chosen were more of the ironic and bizarre types but the surprise elements were well appreciated especially with the students actually enacting out the scenes. Then followed the inters group comprising of students from Stds. VIII to X who gave speeches which included topics on Terrorism, Fashion trends, Science and even the floods of Uttarkhand. Finally the seniors, comprising of students from the Junior College, had an ex-tempore round where they had to deliver speeches on mostly popular English phrases. Even these students gave a commendable performance. At the end of the program, a judge remarked, that though the choice of vocabulary and the follow-up of the student by the concerned teacher could have been better, the overall effort put in by all participants was commendable.
