BIS # 3630 INCREDIBLE INDEPENDENT INDIA

by BIS correspondent

BORIVALI-MUMBAI AUGUST 16, 2013:

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

where knowledge is free

where the world has not been broken up into fragments

by narrow domestic walls

That's how the renowned poet, Rabindranath Tagore, describes his dream for Mother India. This 67th Independence Day, it is time to marvel at the progress that India has made in every field- be it art, science or literature and reflect and pledge to improve upon its drawbacks, which is exactly what was done in Don Bosco High School, Borivali.

A short flag hoisting ceremony was organised with the administrator, Rev. Fr. Baptist, as the Chief Guest. The theme, "Be Responsible to be the Change in the Society" was well communicated through the course of the entire program. A skit highlighted the point that every citizen is as important as the authorities when it comes to making a change for the better. A rousing speech by Mst. Kedar Kamath emphasized the essence of valuing our Independence. A motivating video aptly displayed both the positive and the negative aspects of India and emboldened us to make weaknesses strengths.

Patriotic spirits rekindled, every person present vowed to make India a better place, in however small a way.

'JAI HIND!'
