MATUNGA-MUMBAI, DECEMBER 6, 2013: The book " Divine Stories for Families" Reflections on the Sunday Gospels of St. Matthew ( Cycle A) by Fr Elias Dias, SDB, is published by Tej-Prasarini, Don Bosco Communications. The book was launched in Mumbai at The Shrine of Don Bosco' Madonna on Sunday 1st December by Rev Fr. Godfrey D'Souza, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mumbai. Fr. Alfonso Elengikal, The President of Indian Catholic Press Association was present for the book launch.
Fr. Godfrey speaking on this occasion congratulated Fr. Elias Dias for the commendable work undertaken by him for the reflections on the Sunday Gospel of St Matthew in the book "Divine Stories for Families". He recommended it for the Small Christian Communities and the Basic Christian Communities as they could use this resource materials to encounter Christ.
Divince Stories for Families is a reflection on the Sunday Gospel passages. It provides a concise background and explanation to the scriptural passage, and proposes concrete points for reflection on each passage. The expanation of the passages is wrapped in stories, ancecdotes and parables so that it makes for easy reading. This will also help the reader to comprehend the Gospel values in each passage. The aim of this book is to take the Word of God to individuals, families and their neighbourhoods.
"Divine Stories for Families" is recommended for preachers, releigous, teachers, catechists and for people of all faiths. It can be used for personal transformation as well as to guide community reflections. It is a good comapanion for the whole year, to lead individuals, families and their friends to encounter Christ.
Fr Elias' first book " Pebbels and Petals", was published by Tej-prasarini, Don Bosco Communications , and was well appreciated.
During the launch of the book Fr. Elias dedicated this book to Late Rev. Fr. Aurelius Maschio, sdb, a passionate Patriach of the Province of Mumbai, he thanked Ms. Verona Vaz for her dedication and commitment in meticulously editing the book, to Mr. William Fernandes for the cover design,
Ms. Rochelle Rodricks for the book deisgn, Fr. Tony Dsouza sdb for aiding in the reflections, Fr. Matthew Couthinho, sdb and Fr. Valerian Pereira, sdb for proof reading the material and Fr. Joaquim Fernandes,sdb Director of Tej-Prasarini for publishing the book. He thanked immensely the Provincial and his council of Province of Mumbai for funding this publication.
