BIS # 3871 TO KNOW AND LOVE DON BOSCO

KAPADVANJ-GUJARAT, JANUARY 21, 2014: On 19th Januaury 2014 Fr. Alex Fernandes, the director of Amrut Dhara, the cathetical centre, along with his collaborators organized the 10th Don Bosco quiz competition for the children studying at the Salesian institutions and the institutions run by the Salesian Family of the Gujarat region at Don Bosco Kapadvanj.
The competition commenced with a prayer and lightning of the lamp. Sr. Jane, superior of the S.M.I. Community, Nadiad, the chief guest of the event, Fr. Ivan D'souza, the Rector of Don Bosco Kapadvanj, Fr. Fernandes and a boy and a girl representative were invited to light the lamp which reminded everyone of the presence of God in their midst. Thereafter Fr. D'souza was invited to garland the statue of Don Bosco. The chief guest for the programme Sr. Jane was felicited with a bouquet of flowers. Finally, keeping in mind the way Don Bosco began his work, the quiz too started with a Hail Mary.
Mr. Pravin Parmar, the secretary and the Quiz Master invited all the participants to take their places. He then explained the general rules for the quiz competition. There were all together 8 rounds which consisted of a questionnaire on the life of Don Bosco and some paper games. The children participated very enthusiastically. One could see their love for Don Bosco from the way they were answering the questions.  The audience too appreciated the efforts of the children.
The quiz was organized for the Salesian institutions belonging to the Salesian family. All together 9 institutions participated in this quiz competition. They were: Don Bosco Dakor, Don Bosco Chhotaudaipur, Don Bosco Kawant, Don Bosco Snehalaya, Puspanjali Dakor, Auxilium Convent Baroda, S.M.I sister Nadiad, Jag Prakash Kanya Chatralay Pansora, S.M.I sisters Katlal.
After the quiz was over, Sr. Jane addressed the gathering and in her message, thanked all the fathers and appreciated the efforts of the participants. She spoke about the work of Don Bosco for the poor and marginalized youth. Fr. D'souza then declared the result of the competition. Don Bosco Kawant bagged the first prize followed by the runners up Auxilium Convent and Don Bosco Chottaudipur came third in this 10th quiz competition. Sr. Jane gave away the prizes to the winners. All the participants were given momento and were congratulated for their efforts.
Fr. D'souza, thanked all the children who participated in this quiz competition and appreciated the knowledge of the children about Don Bosco. He also gave a special thanks to Fr. Fernandes for his initiative in conducting this quiz on Don Bosco. It was indeed a pleasure to see the children studying about Don Bosco and getting to know him personally. It was their love for Don Bosco that made these children study about him.
