NASHIK, JULY 16, 2015: The staff and the novices of the Salesian Training Institute inaugurated the Marian month on July 16 with a celebratory mass focused on the theme 'Grow and glow with Mary'.
The prayer service began with a procession from the Chapel towards the Basilica of Our Lady.
The Gospel reading was taken from the Gospel of Luke. The Rector, Father Kenneth Pereira, spoke of the aptness of the gospel with regards to the theme of the Marian month.
He called attention to the fact that the Lord is the light of the world and like Mary we are called to be light to others.
The Rector then inaugurated the Marian month by drawing the curtain of the Basilica and displaying the theme.
Novice Nitesh Damor delivered a sermon on the topic 'Mary our Help'. Vice Rector, Father Lloyd Rodrigues, unveiled the Marian calendar and highlighted the various activities slated for the community in honour of Our Lady.
