by Arlette D'Souza

KUWAIT, JULY 21, 2015: 145 children aged between 6 and 18, participated in a month-long summer club extravaganza, which began at the Indian English Academy School, Kuwait on July 7.

The event was the brainchild of late Father Francis Kharjia – who  passed away in June this year.  Father Kharjia was fondly remembered throughout the event.

The ten animators that ran the event divided it into weekly themes, like  the 'Mad Science Week', 'Sports Mania Week', 'Arty & Crafty Week' and 'Kids in the Kitchen Week.'

Youth were taught to make bhel, jelly fish in a bottle, a volcano, summer macroni jewellery, a snow globe, button flowers and lots more.

They were also treated to outings at a swimming pool, an indoor play park, an aqua park and a bowling alley.

Daily assemblies included a prayer, a thought for the day, a theme song, action songs and a dash of aerobics.

The campers were divided into five groups. Each group had a special name, colour and a group yell.

Blue Beats, Green Jewels, Orangy Orange, Red Roses and Sunshines competed against each other on a regular basis. Blue Beats was crowned champions of Summer Fest 2015.
