MUMBAI, AUGUST 21, 2015: Bicentenary celebrations marking the birth of Don Bosco drew to a close at multiple locations around the country over the last week.
Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul marked the occasion on August 17 by celebrating the Holy Eucharist and then turning to dances and enacting skits on the great Saint.
Twelve students participated in a prayer dance to depict the importance of God in the lives of the youth.
A skit, entitled 'Early stage of Don Bosco' focused on the values of Don Bosco, which were inculcated in him by his mother Mamma Margret.
The students also sang 'Don Bosco a friend of the young and the poor' to add to the celebratory atmosphere.
Don Bosco's virtue of obedience to the Holy Father was the point of focus at Jyoti Mata Church, Vasai on August 16.
Father Rolvin D'mello, the Executive Director of Development Office was the main celebrant at the Holy Eucharist.
He explained how Don Bosco trusted in divine providence and obeyed the Holy Father by erecting the Basilica to Sacred Heart of Jesus in Rome and thus spread his mission in around 132 countries.
After mass, a cake was cut and a host of games were played to add to the celebrations.
