NASHIK, DEC 2, 2015: Six Nashik-based teams vied for top honours in the 30th edition of the annual Oratory Cricket Tournament organised by the Institute of Divyadaan, Salesian Institute of Philosophy on November 29.

A prayer service was held at 8:30 am, before the first ball was bowled and the first boundary hit. The matches were very competitive and team Lankesh finally walked away with the title, after they beat Siddharth Hotel in a tightly-contested final.

Sharad Hingle, Cricket Coach at Ashoka Universal School and Father Rakesh Gavtya - the Rector of Capuchin Ashram – were the chief guests at the event. They awarded the Best Batsman award to Nikhil and the Best Bowler award to Sunil for their exploits.

The tournament gave local youth an opportunity to display their talent. Brothers of Divyadaan, on Sundays, spend a few hours with these youngsters training them in the fields of sports, activities and drama. They also train them in building confidence, take english classes, conduct evening programmes and give them career guidance. Initiatives of this nature have helped in reaching out to hundreds of youth in the city of Nashik.
