BIS #4854 AND THE AWARD GOES TO...

by Christopher Fernandes

KUWAIT, JUN 29, 2016: Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) felicitated their football, hockey, basketball and academy players, at the Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) Award Nite held on June 23, for their impressive display in the 2015-16 season.

Like in the past, teams did the oratory proud by winning top honours in football, basketball and hockey trophies. Father Blany Pinto, Father Derrick Misquitta and Father Francisco Pereira made it a night to remember for all the Don Bosco Oratory members and their families.

The event began with a minute silence, remembering the eight children who passed away in the horrific accident at Trasi Village of Kundapur, Udupi district. They also remembered Father Francis Kharjia, Lorraine D'souza, the sister of Father Misquitta, and other well-wishers from the sports arena who passed away in 2015- 2016.

Father Pinto, the Rector of the Salesian community in Kuwait, inaugurated the event and said, "We are very happy and extremely proud that Don Bosco Institute in Kuwait has such a lively and enthusiastic Oratory. I'm aware that the members of our Oratory are largely past pupil, who love Don Bosco. Don Bosco's Oratory is a place where young people experience a healthy mix of fun, games and spirituality."

He ended by thanking Father Pereira, the mentor of DBO, who created an ambience of love and fellowship and under whose guidance the players have remained cohesive and well-knit. He also thanked Christopher Fernandes for being a binding factor of the DBO.

Father Misquitta then led the prayer before meals. He stated that Don Bosco was the reason the community came together. The awards night concluded with everyone singing the Don Bosco Hymn "Raise your voices." Long live Don Bosco, Viva DBO.
