BIS #4849 SKILL INDIA SEMINAR

CHHOTAUDEPUR, JUN 21, 2016:  In accord with the call of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for a Skilled India for the cause of development, the Lok Seva Kendra - the development staff of the house of Chhotaudepur, organised a one day seminar on June 18, for youth of the neighbouring villages. The seminar was attended by around four hundred boys and girls.

The event began with a solemn prayer service and the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Father Isaac Arackaparambil. Other dignitaries present were Father Brian Boothello - the manger, Father Charles Anthony, Father Charlin Chandran - director of the technical school at Alirajpur, Brother Damodar Wankhede - director of the technical school at Narukot, Chetan P - State Bank of Baroda, Sachin Achaure - instructor at Don Bosco, Chinchwad and Natwarsingh from Larsen and Turbo, Ahemdabad.

Father Arackaparambil addressed the gathering at the onset. Brother Ramesh Durairaj, incharge of the development office for the Gujarat Region, spoke of the need to be open to accepting new values and adjusting to new work cultures. 

The resource persons for the day spoke about the many opportunities available in skilled work, for those unskilled. The youth were informed that the development office offers not only training with a stipend but also guaranteed job placement. 

Father Chandran and Brother Wankhede later spoke about inventive skill and adjustment to work habitats respectively. There was a Q & A session moderated by Brother Durairaj, to answer any queries. The event ended with a fellowship meal. 

Many young girls and boys appreciated the efforts of the Salesians of Don Bosco, in a first of its kind event for them. In the footsteps of their founder Don Bosco - who trained apprentices in small entrepreneurial skills – Salesians continue to live his dream, nurturing one youth at a time, thereby Skilling India!
