The confreres of Divyadaan, Salesian Institute of Philosophy, were privileged to witness the release of Father Ian Doulton’s latest compilation ‘Moncy’s Musings’ on 11 December 2019 during the Provincial Visitation. Father Savio Silveira, Mumbai Salesian Provincial released the compilation saying, "through this book the memory of Moncy Pat, as he was fondly called, will continue to live on."

Monsignor Patrick was a diocesan priest who had spent the last years of his life at the aspirantate, Don Bosco Lonavla. He was well-known for his wit, humor and the frequent articles that he contributed to ‘The Examiner’. Although he passed away almost 30 years ago, memories of him continued to linger on with the confreres who encountered him. The long standing dream of compiling his articles into a single book was finally brought to life through the efforts of Father Doulton.

Dr Henry Rosario, Director of
Exodus Research and Development Private Limited, the key resource facilitator
for the seminar, presented ‘The Emerging Patterns of the Young-at-Risk,’
delving into the Dynamic Context of YaR; Relevance and Effectiveness in Today’s
Context; Missing Out within Emerging Trends; and Pointers to the Future: Where
We Should Be in 2025. Dr Rosario said, “It is important to understand
critically evaluate our Resources, Programme Models,

consensus that will help formulate a common roadmap with renewed vision across
India.”

The participants then dispersed
into six groups for an entire afternoon and evening dedicated to intense study,
analysis, discussion, dialogue and debate ending Day 01 with a simple, yet
sumptuous dinner. The proceedings continue on Day 02 picking up pointers to
forge ahead for and with the young-at-risk.

gathering and involves plenty of logistical accuracy. Our team- Fathers George
Miranda, Corlis Gonsalves, Xavier Devadas, Banzelao Teixeira – have ensured
that things are in place. The most important aspect however, and my sincere
hope, is that in this seminar we emerge with a common roadmap to ensure
improved and better interventions in accompanying the young-at-risk all over
India.”

<span 15px="" color:="" font-family:="" font-size:="" helvetica="" quot="">‘Leading into the Future: Spirituality, Discernment, and Leadership among Heads of Schools in India’ was the theme of the Mumbai conference, where two eminent speakers, Dr. Chris AM Hermans, from Radbound University Nijmegen, and Professor Dr. Francis Vincent Anthony sdb, Salesian University Rome, delivered the keynote addresses.
MUMBAI, JUNE 15, 2019:<span style="background-color: white; color: #202020; font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: 15px;"> On June 13, the management and staff of Bosco Boys Home (BBH) Borivli <span style="background-color: white; color: #202020; font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: 15px;">organised a parents meeting. The main objective of the meeting was to explain to the parents about the concept of Home Schooling. It was also to inform them about the new projects incorporated by BBH for the betterment of the children.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #202020; font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: 15px;">Father Corlis Gonsalves, Director of the Institute, welcomed the parents and briefed them about the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) programme started at BBH from the month of June. The parents were also informed about the various Child Welfare Committee (CWC) rules like the opening of bank accounts, limited period of home holidays, etc.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #202020; font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: 15px;">Caroline D’Souza, who has worked for 27 years in the NIOS sphere, in collaboration with Don Bosco Borivli and Wadala, introduced the parents to NIOS. She explained to them the advantages and importance of NIOS, wherein a student has to choose and clear only five subjects from a list of twenty-five subjects. She even shared the example of her brother who did NIOS after he had failed class seven and is now doing well in life.
<span style="background-color: white; color: #202020; font-family: "helvetica"; font-size: 15px;">Later, the parents were asked to discuss with their children and enlist their names if interested in the NIOS programme. Open schooling would be for boys above 14 years, who find it difficult to understand and study conventional theoretical subjects but will have an option to choose more practical subjects like baking, painting, cooking.
DAKOR, JUNE 14, 2019: Don Bosco English Medium School Dakor opened its new academic year with an inaugural prayer service on June 10.

The service consisted of prayer songs, action songs, and an offertory procession. At the procession, clay and seeds were offered. Clay symbolised the willingness to be moulded into better people and seeds reminded of the potential humans have of making their lives yield fruit for the betterment of humanity.

Father Bastin Thomas, the Rector, welcomed everyone and stressed that children are a blessing for the institution. Father Justus Mendis, the Principal, then introduced the new teachers to the students and thanked the teachers for the organisation of the prayer service.

The students were glad to be back to school and meet their friends. Arya Parmar, a student of standard four, said, “This is where I belong. My school is my home”.

MUMBAI, MAY 28, 2019: Members from the Mumbai unit of the Association of Mary Help of Christians (ADMA) marked the 150th anniversary of ADMA worldwide and 10th anniversary of ADMA Mumbai with a series of well-planned events at the Don Bosco Madonna campus on May 24.

Father Anthony Goyal, spiritual director of the ADMA Mumbai Unit, conceptualised the Marian Magic 2019, which was held on the occasion of the Feast of the Blessed Mother, Mary Help of Christians. The celebration began with an enthronement ceremony of Mary Help of Christians by Father McEnroe Lopes.

An animated Rosary, with the help of a powerpoint presentation, specially prepared for the event followed. Thereafter, the members participated in several Marian games and quizzes, which were based on the Rosary and the life events of the Blessed Mother.

The enthroned statue of Mary Help of Christians was then carried out in a solemn procession, led by Father Goyal and ADMA President, John Mathias, from the Provincial House to the Crypt in the Shrine of Don Bosco’s Madonna.

The Feast Mass was celebrated in the Crypt by Father Glenford Lowe, the Rector of the Provincial House, who, through his homily, based on true life testimonies, instilled in all ADMA members present, a strong belief that ‘Mother Mary is still alive and amongst us, today and forever’.

After Holy Mass, all members joined in the cake cutting ceremony. Father Goyal then announced the beginning of the 10thanniversary celebration, later this year, on September 8, the birthday of Mother Mary.

The Mumbai Unit of ADMA, under the guidance of Father Goyal, had earlier this year, hosted the first-ever interstate ADMA Mumbai – Goa Meet and a Lenten pilgrimage.

Earlier in 2019, ADMA Mumbai unit also witnessed fourteen member aspirants making their commitment on the feast of Don Bosco, on January 31, in the presence of the Salesian Provincial, Father Godfrey D’souza.
