INTER – PARISH TOURNAMENTS AT DIVYADAAN

DIVYADAAN-NASHIK, OCTOBER 15, 2012 : “Run, jump, play but do not sin,” said Don Bosco. On the October 14 the Divyadaan grounds were filled with the youth 
teeming with energy. These youngsters belonged to the many parishes from the Nashik Diocese. The youth of the St. Patrick, Deolali conducted the football and throwball tournament in collaboration with Divyadaan. The football tournament was for boys and throw ball tournament for girls. Six teams of catholic youngsters participated in the football tournament: St. Patrick- Deolali, St. Anne – Nashik Raod, Holy Cross – Nashik city, Sacred Heart -Igatpuri and Don Bosco –College Road and Divyadaan brothers. For the Throw ball tournament 4 teams of girls from St. Patrick, St Anne, Sacred Heart and Don Bosco joined in.
The tournament began with a short prayer service with all the teams and the supporters praying on the ground. Fr. Savio D’souza, the Rector of Divyadaan, who was the Chief guest for the tournament declared the tournament open. He spoke on 
the main value behind conducting this tournament- that of bringing together all the catholic youth of the Nasik diocese in one place to continue building the Christian community.
All the matches were played in good spirit. The teams received good support and cheer from all the youngsters irrespective of their Parishes. St. Patrick emerged as the winner of the Football tournament and the Divyadaan brothers were the runners up. In the throw ball tournament the girl from St. Anne’s bagged the first prize while St. Patrick’s girls came second. The day ended with a felicitation ceremony where all those who put in effort for the success of the tournament were acknowledged. After the ceremony, all the youngsters congratulated each other and thanked for the good spirit shown. Everyone left the Divyadaan grounds happy for the day spent together with so many new friends that they had encountered that day.
