VASAI-MUMBAI,, FEBRUARY 06, 2013:  "Parent's Day" for the parents of the Salesians from Gorai,Uttan and Vasai region was held at Jyoti Mata Church, Jyoti, Aagashi, on Sunday January 27. 2013. More than Eighty parents and family members of the forty nine Salesians from this region participated enthusiastically in this event.


The celebrations began with Holy Mass at 10.30 a.m. Fr. Anthony Fonseca, Principal of Don Bosco School, Nerul concelebrated the Eucharistic with Fr. Vishwas Pereira, Parish Priest of Jyoti being the main celebrant . This mass was offered for the intentions of the Salesian Parents and their relatives. Fr. Vishwas in his homily, welcomed the parents and thanked them for being collaborators in Don Bosco's mission.


This occasion was blessed by the presence of Rev. Fr. Michael Fernandes, Salesian Provincial of the Province of Mumbai. Fr. Michael in his speech thanked the parents for gifting their precious sons to the congregation. We also had the presence of Fr. Lawrence D'Souza, the Rector of the Salesian Presence in Vasai Region.


After the Holy Eucharist a movie on the life of Don Bosco was screened in Marathi for the parents. Fr. Vishwas then guided the parents on a tour of all the Salesian houses of the Mumbai province through a multimedia presentation. There were also games for the parents and relatives.


Towards the end of the program Fr. Vishwas invited the parents to pray for their children and also pray for vocations to the Salesian congregation. Parents relished the sumptuous meal together. As a souvenir every parent went home with 2013 calendar of Jyoti Parish.


Thanks to the youth group and the women's sodality of the Jyoti Parish who generously came forward to prepare for this day. Thanks also to Fr. Vishwas who takes pain in organizing this event year after year.
