MATUNGA – MUMBAI, JULY 19, 2013: With profound sorrow, the Salesian Province of Mumbai mourns the death of its dear confrere Fr. Bosco Pereira.  Fr. Bosco passed away early this morning, 19th July 2013. The funeral Mass will be held on Saturday 20th July 2013 at 4:00 pm at the Shrine of Don Bosco's Madonna, Matunga, followed by burial at the Sewri Cemetery.
Fr. Bosco Pereira was born on 30th July 1949 at Mazgaon and was a student of Don Bosco, Matunga from June 1960 – 1964. He was an aspirant from June 1964 to 1968 at Don Bosco, Lonavla and was a novice at Yercaud from May 1969. He made his perpetual profession on the 24th of May, 1977 at Don Bosco, Lonavla and was ordained a priest on 19th December, 1981 at Don Bosco, Matunga.
He had an in-depth knowledge of philosophy and theology along with a B.Ed. degree. Fr. Bosco was in charge of Bosco Boys' Home, Borivli during the years 1983 – 1987 and 1992 – 1997, and later became the Rector from 1997– 2003. He was also in charge of Shelter Don Bosco, Wadala from 1987 – 1990. He officiated as the Campus Minister at Don Bosco, Kurla from 2006 – 2009. He was an efficient Counsellor at Dominic Savio, Andheri from 2009 – 2013.
Fr. Bosco Pereira has left for his eternal reward after many faithful and fruitful years of service as a Salesian priest. He leaves behind fond memories since his charming and humorous nature endeared him to all. He was a patient counsellor to many a young person who came to seek his advice.
