BIS # 4389 A FAB FEB AT ALIRAJPUR

by Bro. Aliester D'Souza

ALIRAJPUR-MADHYA PRADESH, MARCH 7, 2015: The month of February is sandwiched between two key moments of the academic year; the feast of Don Bosco and the annual examinations. On the last day of the shortest month of the year February 28, 2015 Don Bosco Academy celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. C.V. Raman by organizing the Annual Science Exhibition. A variety of science models and projects were on display and students from class III to class IX were actively involved.

Aimed at developing a scientific temperament among the students, the event achieved much more than what it was intended for. The exhibition drew a great gathering of students, teachers and even parents. With the culmination of these events, Don Bosco Academy enters into the final phase of the academic year – the annual exams.

On February 25, to commemorate the birthday of Sir Baden Powell the Scouts and Guides solemnized the day under the guidance of the Scout Master Fr Osborn Furtado. Almost twenty days prior to the event, they had been working day in and out to make the day special. The programme included the display of the basics of scouting and the felicitation of the Scouts and Guides for their exploits at the Boscoree earlier this year. After the programme, the renovated Scout Room was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Aunty Judy and Our Rector Fr. Steve.

On February 20, the students of Std XI organized a farewell programme for the students of standard XII. The beauty of the event was that the students themselves worked together, planned and executed the programme and its logistics. This was indeed sure training in leadership and freedom. A flurry of dances, skits, the Thank-you and God-bless-you songs, sharing of memories was part of that unforgettable evening. Our Principal, Fr Glen Fernandes, wished them luck, success and blessings as they walked out the portals of the institution that, for most, had been their second home for more than a decade.
