ALIRAJPUR, JUNE 27, 2008: June 26th marked a very special day at our Don Bosco centre in Alirajpur! The inauguration of our brand new School of Excellence Boys Boarding facility was presided over by Bishop Swamiji Chakko and graced by the presence of our Provincial, Fr. Michael Fernandes. Following the blessing, unveiling of the dedication stone by Bishop Swamiji and the cutting of the ribbon by Fr. Michael, a meaningful Mass was held for all the attendees. The children’s participation was excellent with clear readings and prayers. They also outdid themselves with their joyful singing. Many Salesian confreres came to help make this celebration a very special one. Several diocesan priests and Sisters, the Holy Spirit Sisters and our parishioners joined as well. ed in the planning, funding and construction of the facility was held after Mass with garlands presented to the honourees. After the programme, lunch was served to all. The construction for the new boarding began under the guidance of Fr. Anaclete D'Mello, Provincial Economer, Fr. Stanny Ferreira, Rector and Br. Jerome Mendonca, Administrator with the corroboration of Bishop Swamiji and the then Salesian Provincial, Fr. Ivo Coelho. After Fr. Stanny’s transfer last May, Fr. Leslie Pereira, Rector, Fr. Dominic Martis, Administrator, and Fr. Anthony Goyal Anthony, Principal and Prefect of Studies took over the task of completion. The theme for the celebration was, “Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart” - we here in Alirajpur are indeed grateful to our Bishop, our Salesian Provincials, our benefactors, Fr. Stanny, Fr. Anaclete, the Architect, the Contractor and all the workers who made this vision become a reality.
