VIRAR, JULY 15, 2008: Don Bosco's Resurrection Parish, Virar East, held its first Youth Meeting on Sunday July 13, 2008 and it was attended by 68 youngsters. Fr. Blany Pinto, Parish Priest, addressed the youth, after which Fr. Edwin Colaco, Assistant Parish Priest, who is in charge of the youth took over the meeting which was full of energy, effervescence and exuberance. The youth were buzzing with excitement as they enjoyed the games and action songs to their heart's content! Discussing their role in th
e parish, the youth were told that "they are not the future of the parish, but the present" and that their ‘presence’ was indeed a ‘present’ to the parish. Further, it was pointed out that the holistic development of the youth was a key priority of the parish and that they would receive all the necessary support to grow in the different areas of their life. It was also decided that the parish hall would be used as the Youth Centre and the youth meetings will be held on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sunday of every month. The Youth Centre will be open daily and the youngsters can avail of the library and games facilities there. The Resurrection Youth Movement holds much promise for every youngster of this parish and they are now looking forward to participating in a variety of youth events in the diocese.
