BIS # 1135 “GRANDPA, GRANDMA YOU ARE THE BEST!”

Joseph’s News Team WADALA, OCTOBER 3, 2008: The month of October began with a tribute to our elders. In order to prepare for this celebration, the teachers, P.T.A representatives along with the primary students of St. Joseph’s high school Wadala scurried around with full gusto to make this day an unforgettable one. The venue for the event was the school auditorium. It was great to see so many grandparents cheerfully walking in with a look of anticipation about what this day would bring. The PTA representatives warmly welcomed the grandparents with red roses as a symbol of love. The students greeted their grandparents with a smile and presented a card to them wishing them Happy Elders Day. Next, an address was read out acknowledging their invaluable presence in our lives and thanking them for their unconditional love, support and guidance. The blessings of the Almighty were sought and invoked by a group of students dressed in colourful Gujarati attire. Through their graceful dance, they thanked and praised God for His love, which is received through our elders. The role played our grandparents in our lives was depicted wonderfully through a skit. The skit brought out the special relationship shared between grandparents and grandchildren. There was a short pause after the skit to reflect on its message. After this our energetic enthralled everyone with their mesmerizing dances. Finally, Fr. Aloysius Furtado, the Rector, thanked all present for making this an occasion to be fondly remembered. To mark the end of this special day, our grandparents were escorted to the school canteen where they enjoyed a variety of refreshments.
