BIS # 1168 YOUNG SALESIANS INTRODUCED TO LIFE SKILLS

Joel D’Souza sdb MUMBAI, OCTOBER 30, 2008: ‘Life Skills’ have clearly found their place in the Youth Ministry of the Mumbai Province. A few months back 20 Salesian priests from the province attended a Workshop in Life Skills training – now it was the turn of the young Salesians who are in practical training to go through a similar programme. A four day Workshop on this theme, from October 27 to 30, was conducted by Fr Isaac Arackaparambil at Provincial House, Matunga and it was attended by 18 Practical Trainees. The aim of the Workshop was to equip the participants with the necessary tools to effectively conduct sessions in Life Skills for youngsters. Besides inputs received, the participants also went through the practical experience of conducting these sessions which helped reinforce the learning. The entire Workshop was based on the UDAAN Life Skills programme. The feedback at the end of the Workshop was extremely positive. The participants felt that they had learnt something new and relevant, and that they would be able to use the same in their work with young people.
