tion Parish, Virar and the adjoining parishes in Vasai, on December 13. The vigil began at 9.30 pm and concluded next morning at 5.30 am. The theme selected was the “Word of God in Our Lives, In Our Communities, And in Our Parishes.” The night vigil commenced with the screening of videos portraying the renowned Gospel singer Don Moen, which set the mood for the rest of the vigil. Fr. Blany Pinto, our Parish Priest thereafter broke the Word of God for us and exhorted us to give due importance to the scriptures in our daily lives. A graceful prayer-dance was performed by the youth to the melodious rhythm of a bhajan. The spiritual vibrancy of the vigil was maintained all through the night wit
h lively action songs being performed by members of the RYM. Skits depicting the importance of the Word of God in our lives were enacted and were well received by the faithful. The ‘Vigil Lights in Praise’ group from Mumbai, with their scintillating foot-tapping music, further enhanced the spiritually ecstatic mood of the crowd. A multi-media presentation entitled “Act of love“helped us focus our collective attention on a better relationship with Jesus, the Word made flesh. An hour-long reflection consisting of quotations from Jesus, along with appropriately selected hymns, provided the perfect background for a meaningful open forum on the relevance of the Word of God in our lives. Heart-rending testimonies inspired us to come closer to Jesus, who gave himself to us in the Eucharist at 5.00 am. Sincere thanks are in order to the RYM for the weeks of hard work and dedication they put in to provide us with the perfect ambience for such a grace-filled night that we will always cherish.
