BIS # 1233 MARRIAGE RECTIFICATIONS AT SATPUR

Nirmala Salve NASHIK, DECEMBER 24, 2008: The Advent theme, “prepare ye the way of the Lord – make your paths straight” was concretely lived and realised in the life of seven couples from St. Dominic Savio Church, Satpur, Nashik, whose marriages were rectified on December 20, 2008. Their Advent, ‘the waiting’ of these couples was very long and painful, but the Lord has blessed them and their families abundantly through the conferring of five sacraments. In reality, the process of marriage rectifications was initiated even much before the Salesians took charge of Don Bosco Parish along with Satpur. But for whatever reasons the process was not completed. It was in June 2008 that Fr. Nelson Falcao restarted the whole process. He began with a general meeting of all those who wanted their marriage rectifications to be done. About fifteen couples enrolled their names. The first step was to come regularly for Sunday mass. After mass Fr. Nelson would personally take catechesis for them. After six months of thorough catechesis and regular attendance only seven out of the fifteen couples were chosen and were given the required sacraments. The process also included getting all the necessary documents and certificates, namely, birth certificates, baptism certificates, school leaving certificates and others. The couples had to attend a marriage preparation course and fill up the pre-nuptial enquiry forms. On December 20, the whole process of marriage rectifications was completed and the registers were signed. On Christmas night the parishioners will felicitate them and welcome them into the parish community. The parishioners at Satpur are grateful to Fr. Nelson for being a good shepherd and for bringing back the lost sheep.
