Richard Burkhao sdb SAVEDI, FEBRUARY 4, 2008: The feast of our father and founder Don Bosco was celebrated on a grand scale at Savedi, with the Annual Don Bosco Yaatra being held to commemorate the occasion. The Yaatra began at 5.00 pm with a procession, which was followed by the Eucharistic celebration. A huge number of people from the villages were present for the Yaatra. The principal celebrant for the festive mass was Fr. Berty Rosario, Provincial of the Poona Jesuit Province. Many priests from the neighbouring parishes were also present for the Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Berty touched the hearts of the faithful by his passionate homily, in which he highlighted the zeal and determination of Don Bosco. The Eucharist was followed by a short felicitation programme. Several important personalities, including Mr. Sangram Jagtap, Mayor of Ahmednagar District, who were present for the occasion, were felicitated. During this programme, Mr. Jagtap released the January issue of ‘Bosco Vaani’. After the felicitation programme all those present joined in for a festive meal. The parish youth then enacted a musical play based on the life of St. Paul, entitled "Tezomay". The Bhajan Mandalis then took over the stage and kept the singing going till 2.00 am. The people finally dispersed in the wee hours of the morning, carrying the fervour and festivity of the Yaatra back to their villages.
