ty and splendour at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Pune. In the morning, there was a ‘high tea’ organized for the students of JDV. The solemn festive Mass in the evening was presided over by Bishop Valerian D’Souza, with more than 20 priests concelebrating, and the participation of over 400 people. Everything was organized very beautifully and meaningfully: the Liturgy, the Choir, and the solemn atmosphere of the 'people of God' gathered for the Holy Eucharist. After the Mass, the Bishop, diocesan clergy and the other religious joined the community for dinner. The following day, February 1, was a special day for many of the children living in the bastis around DBYC. About 20 students from the Sihangad Engineering College, under the guidance of Cl. Raymond and our social worker Santosh, organized a Paper Bag making Workshop, in which about 70 children participated. The programme began with the Chief Guest, Mr. R. Alvin Devdas, (Development Officer C.M.D. Club Member), being welcomed by the children with a bouquet of flowers. Addressing the gathering, Fr. Vincent Rasquinha, said that the Salesians are 
happy when their institutions are truly used by underprivileged children. The Chief Guest appreciated the wonderful work the youngsters are doing in collaboration with DBYC and he promised his help whenever possible. The children were extremely happy to learn a new skill of bag making and they had a wonderful time at DBYC. Next, on February 3, a Study Circle on Human Rights, with a special focus on the Rights of Children, was organized for the community. The Study Circle began with an introductory talk given by Cl. Royston D’Souza. After this Cl. Santa Raymond presented the theological aspects of Child Rights, Cl. Jesu Robinson explained the Salesian perspective, and Cl. Osborn Furtado dealt with
the pastoral implications. Next, Fr. Savio Silveira presented the Rights Based Approach to development work. He emphasized that this is the methodology that we are being called to adopt today. Further, he spoke about the recently held International Seminar on Human Rights, and presented the key points from the address of the Rector Major as well as the Action Plan drawn up by the South Asia Region. Finally, Fr. Anaclete D’Mello stressed the need of developing the proper perspective and becoming passionate about our work for the disadvantaged. The Study Circle came to a close with the vote of thanks by Fr. Wilfred D’Souza.
