BIS # 1300 - OLIVER CHARMS BARODA

Samir Macwan BARODA, FEBRUARY 27, 2009: It was a grand day for the staff and students of Don Bosco Baroda, on February 22, as they staged the all time favourite, ‘Oliver - The Musical’, on the occasion of the Annual Day. Fr. D’Souza Godfrey, Vice Provincial, was the Chief Guest for this memorable event. The school also took this opportunity to felicitate Ms. Vimala Spurgen who has served this institution for the past 23 years. The beauty of this magnificent musical was further enhanced by the splendid performance of the students. What was even more amazing was that for the first time in its history the school staged a musical with a cast of 460 students. This was a new record, not just for the school, but probably for the city of Baroda. The entire audience and especially the parents of the actors were absolutely thrilled by this remarkable production. They warmly congratulated the Principal for this outstanding feat and also expressed their appreciation for the efforts put in by the staff. Besides the show itself, the practices and the preparation for the musical will always remain an unforgettable memory. Working under the direction of Fr. Anthony Fonseca, Fr. Lorenzo D’Souza and Fr. Nelson Carvalho was a great learning experience. As the well know phrase from this musical – “Please Sir, may I have some more” – keeps ringing in our minds, our one wish is that we keep staging more musicals like this. Cheers to all who made ‘Oliver’ such a brilliant success!
