BIS #1384 - SUMMER ACTIVITIES AT SATPUR

Smita Salve NASHIK, MAY 25, 2009: The summer heat did not deter the Satpur parish youth from having a variety of sacred and secular activities. From April 12 to 18, a Catechetical Shibir was held for those receiving First Holy Communion. During this Shibir the children were helped to learn about thirty important prayers by-heart. A simple explanation of the prayers, along with some questions and answers, also formed part of this Shibir. At the end of the Shibir an exam was conducted. Eleven out of the eighteen got through and were permitted to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion on April 19, 2009. For those who did not make it, yet another Catechetical Shibir was held. After fulfilling the necessary requirements, seven more children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Thanks to the Catechism Teachers, Brothers and Sisters who helped during the Sunday Catechesis all through the year and in a special way those teachers who helped during the Shibir. Along with these religious activities the youth also had a short summer camp of about ten days. It consisted of meeting at the Church for about three hours in the morning and for about three hours in the evening. The camp programme included games, competitions, music, drama and entertainment. The Summer Camp concluded on May 16, 2009 with the Holy Eucharist followed by prize distribution for the winners of the various competitions. Thanks to Bro. Neville, Rajesh Bansode, Smita Salve and other youth group members who helped in the Camp.
