William Siddapur
LONAVLA, JUNE 30, 2010: June 28, 2010 a programme was conducted by “Champions meet at the Outdoors” Magic Bus Center for Learning and Development. The participants from Don Bosco Lonavla were Mr. William Siddapur (Teacher Incharge) Arif Shaikh (X), Suraj Janere (X), Pratik Palekar (X), Neeladri Kanjilal (IX)
Excitement began as soon as we were informed about the Magic Bus. We reached at the place of competition on June 26 at 11a.m. We knew that it was going to be a different experience. The place, the activities, the safety measures provided by the staff, the accommodation and food were beyond our imagination.
We were taken aback seeing thirty-five acres of vast land and felt as if we were in a new world altogether. We had to perform various adventurous and tough activities which included Jacob’s ladder, Low Rope Course, Raft Making and Pipe Dream. These activities were challenging, but as it is said, hard times are like a washing machine, they turn, twist and knock us around, but in the end we come out cleaner, brighter and better than before.
As we were up for a competition, there were five other teams who were part of this programme. Since all the teams had no idea about the activities, it was a good surprise for all of us. The activities made us learn simple but great lessons for life. We realized the importance of Time Management, Planning, Co-operation and teamwork. Just like food, clothing and shelter are important for life. Time Management, Planning, Co-operation, communication and teamwork are important for a successful life. We also learnt that “learning is more important than winning”.
Then came the most important part of the programme, the prize distribution ceremony. We were awarded the second prize. We received runners up trophy, certificates and Magic Bus T-Shirts and Caps.
All in all, a great learning experience!
