BIS #1953 ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR LEADERS

Fr. Anthony Fonseca sdb
NERUL, AUGUST 6, 2010: Leadership development is an effort that enhances the learner's capacity to lead oneself, other students, groups and finally the school.
The School Council attended Fr. Brian Moras’s workshop on Wednesday July 21. The main objective was to train the students to become good leaders. “Leaders don’t do different things, they do things differently.” The opening activity ‘Tailing the Donkey” created a lot of stir and excitement.
All can’t be leaders. There can only be one leader and the rest follow the leader. The Don Bosco hymn introduced the students to the Salesian world. The captains heard an inspiring speech by Barrack Obama. Later they conducted a session whereby they identified their leaders and their qualities. The song ‘Jai Ho’ was played to inspire the young leaders.
Finally Fr. Brian gave the children hand-outs to create awareness about Team Work. Another hand out explained different leadership styles. A combination of these needs to be used in different situations.
