KURLA, SEPTEMBER 3, 2010: Don Bosco Centre for Learning, located on a sprawling Campus at Kurla has achieved yet another distinction. On August 24, 2010, Don Bosco Institute of Management & Research (a separate Management Institution of Don Bosco Institute of Technology ) was launched. It will be offering a full time 2-year M.M.S. Course which is A.I.C.T.E. approved and affiliated to the University of Mumbai. DBIMR is equipped with an excellent infrastructure. The current batch of students has a male: female ratio of 51:49. They represent various streams of undergraduate education.
On the occasion of the inauguration, Fr. Mario Vaz welcomed the parents, students and all the dignitaries. He made a special mention of how the parents need to be thanked by all of us present for their children becoming our students for the next 2 years. He also mentioned that DBIMR would be partnering the parents in this education journey of their children.
The inauguration was graced with the presence of Fr. Michael Fernandes, Provincial, who emphasized the importance of nurturing the ‘soul’ in all of our education. Fr. Adolph Furtado, Rector too spoke of the need to aim for ‘Excellence with a Soul’. He explained with numerous examples, how when the ‘soul’ is missing, the so called managers met with disaster in their lives. Mr. Albert D’Souza, Governing Board member made the students realize that they belong to the 1 % of educational institutions which really believe in imparting true education. Mr. Conrad Saldanha, Principal Advisor explained what the focus of the Institute would be viz. The Institute would focus on creating Managers for growing the Industry, Entrepreneurs for reating Industries and Stewards who will protect the environment and build sustainable Industries. Dr. A.C. Augustine, Director performed an initiation ritual for the students. He also gave an inspiring induction talk to the students which revolved around explaining the role of the student, the teacher, the parent and the Institute in the education process.
