VADODARA, OCTOBER 5, 2010: On September 29, 2010 an interface meeting was held between the Railway personnel Vadodara division and Don Bosco Snehalaya. The aim of this meeting was to get in touch with one of our caring communities – the railway personnel and make them aware of children’s difficulties to teat the children with respect, dignity and to understand them better and also to enter into a good working relationship with the railway personnel who are an important contact centre for our marginalized boys.

Forty- five members had participated in this interface meeting. They were all railway employees (TCS, RPF and Railway Electrical department). The Chief guests were Mr. Pradip Banerji, Mr.Binay Kumar and Mr. Yadav (station manager). The Facilitator was the Director and D.B.S Staff team.

The Director heartily welcomed the participants for the meeting and he introduced the institution and staff to those who were present. Mr. Francis Dodia our outreach coordinator requested the participants to introduce themselves to each other and afterwards he asked them to express their experience with the street children whenever they came across them on the railway stations or in the trains. Mr. P.S Saraj (RPF – Officer) agreed to share his experience. He told us that as soon as the child comes on the railway platform he tries to contact child line or any other NGO which are directly dealing with the street children. Mr. Binay Kumar (IRSEE) is working in the DRM office but he is interested in working with the lost and found children and for this reason he has opened a website for these children so that he can place them happily home and he told us that he would network with us for placing the children at home. After the sharing was over the Director took over with the powerpoint presentation of Snehalya and Child Safety. In the Powerpoint Presentation the work of the institution was well explained. The staff also shared their experiences with the boys. At the end Mr. Francis Dodia our Outreach Coordinator thanked the entire participant for giving special time for this meeting.

The participants were happy to have this meeting and were ready to give whatever help was required to Don Bosco Snehalaya in its work with railway platform and street children. By this meeting they came to know many things about child care and protection and became aware of the work carried out by Snehalaya in Vadodara.
