NERUL, JULY 7, 2011: ‘Saint Dominic Savio – an enlightened soul’. On July 6, Don Bosco School, Nerul, celebrated the Feast of St. Dominic Savio. The programme began with an introductory speech. A few students spoke about the life of St. Dominic Savio and the values that he tried to instill in other children of his age. ‘Death but not sin’, ‘My friends shall be Jesus and Mary’ were some of the sayings of St. Dominic Savio that were read by the students. A few students then enacted some scenes from the life of St. Dominic Savio. They portrayed how St. Dominic Savio showed the right path to his fellow classmates and friends.
The assembly ended with our Principal, Fr. Anthony Fonseca giving a few instructions. He also spoke a few words on St. Dominic Savio’s life and how he inculcated moral values taught by Don Bosco. Father also spoke about forming a group somewhat similar to ‘Sodality’ which was a group formed by St. Dominic Savio. This group would be named ‘The Star group’ whose main aim and motto would be ‘zero garbage.’ The group would help maintain cleanliness in school.
We all hope that this group will be formed soon and all the members of this group would be faithful to their duties and responsibilities. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Fr. Anthony. At the end, sweets were distributed to the children.
