KAPADVANJ, JULY 7, 2011: “Sanctity consists in being cheerful,” These were the words that Don Bosco said to Dominic Savio in order to become a saint. From July 3 to July 5, 2011 the triduum to St. Dominic Savio was celebrated at Don Bosco, Kapadvanj. Skits on the life of St. Dominic Savio was presented to portray the wonder works of this teenage saint. The skits enacted showed that holiness in not far- fetched. Holiness is possible even for a teenager.
On July 6, 2011 the feast of the ‘Little Giant’ was celebrated. The celebration began with a solemn mass presided by Fr. Mathias. In his homily, Fr. Mathias challenged the gathering to strive to be holy. The Eucharist was well animated. The lively singing during the Eucharist made the mass more solemn. The celebration reached its pinnacle at the Savio Nite. It began with the lighting of the lamp to pay tribute to this young saint. Fr. Ivan, the Rector of the house then declared the Night open. It was a wonderful get together comprising of puzzles, quiz and games. There was an enthusiastic participation by the aspirants. Action songs, claps and yells ignited the event. The Savio Nite enabled the aspirants to get acquainted with Dominic Savio. It also helped them to emulate the values of the teenage saint.
May Dominic Savio continue to inspire the lives of the younger generation.
