Patrick Corda
BORIVLI, SEPTEMBER 19, 2011: What the Indian cricket team couldn't achieve with their recent tour to England, the students of Bosco Boys Home Borivli did it at the BPL (Bosco Premier League). A one-day under arm cricket tournament was organised on September 17, 2011 for the boys at Don Bosco School Basket Ball Court, Borivli.

The students of MoRD (Ministry Rural development) Boarders, and Day Scholars participated in this tournament. There were six teams of eleven players a side. The game started in the morning at 10.30 am and by lunch break we had finished the knock-out basis game, out of which three teams qualified.

After the lunch break, with the help of a bye Team Bosco Boys reached straight to the finals. The other semi-final was played between MoRD Automobile and MoRD Welding, the match between these two turned out to be a though one. The MoRD Automobile team entered into the finals.

It was a pleasant surprise to have the Project Coordinator of Bosco Samamjik Vikas Sanstha, Mr. Melwyn Pangya for the finals. He wished both the teams and tossed the coin for the captains. The new ball was presented by Mr. Melwyn Pangya and the game began. The game was very interesting as the Bosco Boys Boarders won the match in a very dramatic way. Mr. Pangya and Br. Richard Burkhao presented the trophy to the winning team. The Certificates to both the teams were distributed by the Director Fr. Anthony Santarita.

Our sincere word of appreciation to Fr. Ronald Menezes, the Rector of St. John Bosco Parish, Borivli, Principal Fr. George Carlos and Administrator Fr. Allwyn Misquitta for providing us the ground. We also thank Fr. Bastin Thomas, Br. Richard Burkhao, Mr. Sachin Pyati, Mr. Raju Jaiswal and Keshav for organising the tournament, and a special word of appreciation to Fr. Anthony Santarita for supporting this event.
