MUMBAI, JANUARY 03, 2012: The Provincial House Community gathered around its newly consecrated priests, on Monday, January 2, 2012, for a Solemn Eucharistic celebration. Fr. Wilfred D'Souza Rector of the Provincial House introduced the young priests and wished them God's abundant blessings on their ministry ahead.
Fr. George D'Abreo presided over the Eucharistic celebration and assisted by Frs. Pratap Damor and Rixon Nigrel. In his homily, Fr. Damor rightly focused on his vocation story. God calls us in ways we do not understand and even when all other doors seem to be closed, He has a special door that opens up. Inspite of all the difficulties and hardships along the way; from financial constraints to ill health, from abandon by relatives and friends to knocking on the doors of various vocation promoters, God's path lead the young Fr. Damor to the Salesians. "He has called me by name," quoted Fr. Damor.
The gift of our five newly ordained priests is a gift to our Salesian Province of Mumbai and to the young. As they journey these days, in the joy of their priestly 'honeymoon', to the various communities of the province, we pray that through their inspiration many more youngsters may be open to responding to the Call of the Lord in their lives.
While we begin to live the Strenna 2012, "Let us make the young our life's Mission, by coming to know Don Bosco", we know that through these young priests Frs. Osborn, Rolvin, Rixon, George and Pratap, the legacy of Don Bosco continues to grow and come alive.
