NERUL, JANUARY 30, 2012: The Republic Day is a very important day in the history of India. The true meaning of freedom is realized only on the day the Constitution came into force. The students of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School put up an interesting programme on this important day.
The Staff and students from classes VI IX assembled in the School Hall. The Chief Guest, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, an eminent personality in Navi Mumbai, was escorted into the hall accompanied by the Manager and the Principal. The programme began with the School Morning Prayer and the School Anthem. The flag was then hoisted while the gathering reverently saluted it and sang the National Anthem. A flag song was then sung in Hindi. The Manager felicitated the Chief Guest with a bouquet and a memento. Fr. Anthony Fonseca, Principal then spoke a few words of introduction about the Chief Guest Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, member of Education Board of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
Before leaving, the Chief Guest addressed the gathering speaking about the importance of Hindi as our National language. Bilal from Class V then delivered an inspiring Speech in Hindi. This was followed by glimpses of the various states of India by the Pre-primary students depicting National Integration. A skit on the Quit India Movement enlightened all on the various atrocities the Indians faced before independence and the founding of the Quit India Movement. A `Quavvali' exhorted all to do something, however small, for our country.
The programme ended with a beautiful song and dance. This melodious musical composition evoked strong feelings of patriotism and respect for our country. Teacher Neeru and Teacher Sumitra were in-charge of the programme. Fr. Anthony Fonseca then thanked the students and teachers for a wonderful programme and commended them on their performances. Sweets were distributed to the students on this joyous occasion. Jai Hind.
