BIS #2844 BORIVLI CELEBRATES NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY

Neelam Rodrigues
BORIVLI, FEBRUARY 28, 2012: February 28, is celebrated as 'The National Science Day 'all over India. It is in honour of the legendary Sir C.V. Raman, for his discovery of the Raman Effect on February 28, 1927.

The science faculty, under the guidance of our principal, Rev. Fr. George Carlos, celebrated the science day in our school with a difference. As a part of the programme, some very interesting individuals were invited to give a short briefing on different topics.
To begin with, we had Dr. Maxim D'mello and Dr. (Mrs) Nannette D'mello, addressing the boys on the importance of proper diet. A very appealing topic indeed, especially in the days when our youngsters are so attracted towards JUNK food!  To follow them, Dr. Sandeep Kasbekar, a prominent general surgeon, spoke to the boys on first aid and threw some light on the do's and don'ts of the same. We also had a short session on career guidance by Mrs. Ketki Oraskar and Ms. Richa Khanna. The boys were certainly impressed with the wide choice of fields they have before them. Finally, Mrs. Beena Chauhan dealt with the most important topic faced by all, teachers and students alike, "STRESS"!!
Though the boys spent about four hours in the hall with these dignitaries, they did seem to appear wiser after having gained the knowledge.
On behalf of the entire staff, I wish to congratulate the science faculty for their noteworthy contribution towards the event.
