Shekar Mariadas sdb
TANAKHALA, APRIL 11, 2012: The summer season has turned out to be a golden opportunity for Don Bosco, Tanakhala as many youth from the villages are taking up different activities for their upliftment.
Don Bosco, Tanakhala already runs twenty four VEP centres for the village children.  We just began with the Basic Computer course, English speaking classes and Tailoring classes for girls and women. Fr. Ashwin has been taking the English classes for the past one month. Out of the batch of twenty five there are twelve regular students.

The computer classes have been divided into two batches. There are seventeen students for the morning and ten students attending the afternoon batch.  We plan to have a separate batch for village children. In the tailoring class we have twenty six tribal girls and women who are enthusiastic about learning the skill, in order to stand on their own feet in this male dominated society. Two staffs have been appointed to teach the computer and tailoring classes. We also plan to have summer club and  English speaking from April 23 to May 26, 2012. The ground work has been done and we did get some entries for the same.

Fr. Rorsario Vas has revitalized Don Bosco, Tanakhala with different initiatives like poultry (chickens and goats) and VEP projects. Through these projects, he aims to build up the relationship with people around, and the people call Don Bosco, Tanakhala as FATHER'S COMPANY. By God's grace we hope to continue these good works throughout the coming years, thus we make our presence more vibrant and effective among the village people, in order to make them significant and aware of their own rights. In the midst of all these activities, we as a community celebrated the Holy week with other denominations in a meaningful way and had joined the community of Kawant for the Easter Vigil where we experienced risen Christ in our life.
