SALESIAN COOPERATORS' PROMISE DAY

WADALA-MUMBAI, FEBRUARY 02, 2013: The Salesian cooperators celebrated their Promise Day on January 
24, 2013, at the 7 pm Parish Mass. Fr. Wilfred D'Souza the Provincial Delegate of the Salesian Cooperators for the Mumbai Province was the main celebrant. Fr. Vivian D’souza concelebrated the Eucharist. Two Cooperators, namely Mrs. Naju Patel and Ms. Suzanne Fernandes took their promise to be full-fledged Salesian Cooperators in the Wadala Unit.
The Provincial Coordinator Mrs. Claudinha Pinto presided over the ceremony and received the promise made by the two aspirants, on behalf of the Association. The Local Coordinator, Mrs. Jacinta D'Souza, assisted her. The unit also gave thanks to the Almighty for the Co-operators who had completed twenty five years or more 
in the Association. Mr Stanny D’sa, Mrs. Bibiana D’souza, Mrs. Philomena D’souza, Mrs. Mavis Castellino, Mrs. Rosa Ferrao, Mrs. Eula Carneiro, Mrs. Louiza Periera, and Mrs. Artimizia Viegas were the jubilarians.
The candidates were prepared for this day by the local delegate, Fr. Vivian D'Souza with three intensive sessions on understanding of vocation, their special calling, and the Spirit of Don Bosco. They also joined the other members, as they studied the life of St John Bosco through the year, through short snippets of his life followed by lively discussions and participated in the activities of the association.
The candidates also attended the thought provoking retreat at Vinalaya, preached by Fr. Valerian on the Life of Don Bosco. Mrs. Jacinta D’souza was instrumental in arranging the training, the administrative work for applications and approval, co-ordinating arrangements for the liturgical celebration and the fellowship.
After the Eucharist, there was a celebration , to welcome two new additions to the Association of the Salesian Co-operators, and to felicitate the Jubilarians. Ms Dolly Afonsio eloquently compered the event. Mr. Stany D’Sa spoke of his experience of being a Cooperator these past years. Fr. Wilfred and Mrs. Claudinha too spoke on the occasion. The Cooperators of the unit presented a skit depicting the dream of St Don Bosco during the program. The evening ended with dance and dinner.
